Is this the right printer for you?

Who the HP ScanJet Pro 2600 f1 Flatbed/ADF Scanner is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You're a single user scanning contracts, receipts, or HR documents from one PC.
  • You batch-scan double-sided documents and want single-pass duplex at 25 ppm.
  • You scan up to 1,500 pages daily.
  • You're fine with USB 3.0 to a single workstation.
  • You scan up to 8.5x122 inches for long documents like spreadsheets or sales reports.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • It's fine if you use HP Scan or third-party software like ABBYY FineReader.
  • It's fine if you scan to local PDF and route from your PC.
  • It's fine if your workstation is Mac, Windows, or Linux.
  • It's fine if you scan flat originals on the platen up to letter size.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • Skip this if multiple users need to scan to it - get the N4600 fnw1 with network and Wi-Fi.
  • Skip this if you want scan-to-email or scan-to-network-folder direct from the device.
  • Skip this if your daily volume exceeds 1,500 pages - get the Pro 3600 f1.
  • Skip this if you need to scan oversized media or 11x17.
  • Skip this if you don't have a free USB 3.0 port.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The HP ScanJet Pro 2600 f1 is a personal-class flatbed scanner with a 60-sheet single-pass duplex ADF - meaning batch scanning of double-sided documents in one pass at up to 25 ppm/50 ipm at 300 dpi. Optical resolution peaks at 600 dpi, and it scans up to A4/letter on the flatbed and up to 8.5x122 inches via the ADF for long documents. Connectivity is Hi-Speed USB 3.0 only - no Wi-Fi, no Ethernet. It includes HP Scan software for Windows, with native macOS and Linux scan compatibility. Daily duty cycle is up to 1,500 pages. The honest regret: USB-only is a real constraint - if you scan from multiple workstations or want to send scans directly to email or a network folder from the device, get the N4600 fnw1 instead. For a single-user setup that scans contracts, receipts, or HR documents from one PC and wants reliable single-pass duplex, this is a clean small-footprint option.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.

What customers actually say

The 5-star consensus: "it just works"

Small sample size, high signal. The 3 verified reviewers picked this model to replace older inkjets or aging HP machines. Common threads in the feedback:

  • "Been using this for our small law office to digitize client documents. The ADF handles batches really well and the flatbed is solid for binding documents without damaging them. Scans are clear and the software integrates fine with our file system."
  • "Got this for my home office to replace an older all-in-one. The scanner itself is fast and the two-sided ADF saves time, though the software could be more intuitive. Works well for what I need though."
  • "Scanning medical records all day at our clinic and this thing has been reliable. The image quality is consistent and it handles the volume we throw at it without overheating or jamming up."
