HP's X55745dn is part of the X-series that uses an HP-engineered toner formula that prints faster, runs cooler, and has lower energy draw than the older Enterprise line. 45 ppm color and B&W, single-function, with duplexing standard and a 1x550 base input that expands to multiple trays. Where buyers regret it: assuming X-series toner is interchangeable with the older M-series cartridges. It is not. The whole consumables ecosystem is different — TerraJet toner — and you'll only find it through HP and HP-authorized partners, not bulk eBay sellers or third-party remanufacturers. The upside: pages cost less to print over the device's lifetime, the high-yield toner sets are real (200,000-page sets exist for the larger X-series), and the device's energy draw is genuinely lower than comparable lasers.
